Dinghy WhatsApp Group

To enable dinghy members to meet up for unofficial social distance group sails I have set up a WhatsApp group. If you would like to join the group then please drop me an email at dinghies. If you are organising a group sail, either it being through the WhatsApp group or between yourselves, please do follow Club and government guidelines. Also please only go out if the conditions are suitable to your experience.

Waiting for the Tide

If you are interested in watching sailing and people working on boats there are a number of YouTube channels available to watch. One caught my eye a while back as the still that came up in a Facebook post looked like the bottom of the A3M, so I just had to find out. It turns out it was, and I’ve intended to add it to a Tidal Diamond before. The channel is Alex Goes Sailing and it is put together by a young lad who had bought a refurbished a 17ft Silhouette. He has subsequently sold this and moved on to a Vivacity 650. I thought it may be of interest to some members, as well as being encouraging to see younger sailors involved in the sort of small boat sailing that Tudor members (young and older) have enjoyed for years.

As ever, feel free to drop me an email at this address if you feeling isolated and cut off from the world. It is always nice to hear from members, and any ideas of things to do would be most welcome.

Stay safe.

I thought it worth continuing to include a few useful links here as a handy place to find them if you haven’t already got them bookmarked:

It is probably also worth noting:

EPIRB Registration

Are your details up to date ? Recently, the RNLI, HM Coastguard and Police around Teignmouth wasted six and a half hours looking for a boat which was in trouble. Unfortunately, the EPIRB device was registered but the owner's details were out of date. Eventually the yacht and owner were found safe and well, but you are reminded that you should ensure your registration details for PLBs and/or EPIRBs are current.
